SUCCESS STORY: MRS. WANI'S JOURNEY TO HEART HEALTH

Mrs. Wani, a young mother of six months, arrived at our clinic struggling to catch her breath. Exhausted by the demands of motherhood and grappling with unexplained breathlessness, she sought answers to her deteriorating health.

Previous 2D Echo tests had indicated an enlarged right side of her heart and severe pulmonary hypertension – a condition where the blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs becomes abnormally high. Intrigued by these findings, our team conducted a thorough evaluation.

Doing the 2D Echo test at the clinic again, we discovered the root cause of her problems: a large hole in her heart, known as an Atrial Septal Defect (ASD). This undetected issue had allowed blood to flow abnormally, putting immense strain on her heart and lungs.

Immediately, we initiated treatment to alleviate her immediate symptoms, including medications to reduce the pressure on her lungs. Remarkably, her condition improved, reducing her PA pressure from 103 mmHg to 70 mmHg; but the underlying issue – the ASD – needed to be addressed.

A minimally invasive procedure, ASD device closure, was performed by Dr. Priya Palimkar to seal the hole in her heart. The results were astonishing. Her pulmonary artery pressure dropped significantly, and her overall heart function improved dramatically.

Today, Mrs. Wani is a thriving young mother, enjoying life to the fullest. Her journey serves as an inspiring testament to the power of early diagnosis and advanced cardiac care.
